What they need

Our mission is to build and maintain high-quality, well-managed, service-enhanced affordable housing communities that meet the needs of lower-income families.

Under the supervision of the Property Manager, the Resident Service Coordinator assesses resident needs; connects residents of Section 8 and other HUD-assisted affordable housing with community-based services, benefits, and resources; coordinates responsive programming; and supports housing stability, self-sufficiency, and quality of life. The coordinator works collaboratively with property management while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and resident confidentiality.

Position Responsibilities

  • Support residents during move-in, annual recertification, lease renewal, and other tenancy-related processes by providing education, referrals, and coordinated follow-up; refer lease-enforcement decisions to property management.
  • Conduct resident outreach and voluntary needs assessments; collaborate with residents on individualized goals and service plans; and use community meetings and other engagement methods to identify emerging needs.
  • Evaluate outcomes of regularly scheduled on-site programs and services as required for quality improvement.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records of resident contacts, referrals, programs, outcomes, and follow-up activities; prepare required internal, funder, and HUD-related reports in accordance with applicable requirements and organizational policies.
  • Promote housing stability and self-sufficiency by helping residents access benefits, health and behavioral health services, food assistance, transportation, education, employment, financial capability resources, and other supports.
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee ongoing on-site programs that promote resident health, well-being, connection, and independence, including wellness, benefits education, transportation, and community-building activities.
  • Identify, evaluate, and maintain referral relationships with local agencies and service providers; make warm referrals when appropriate; monitor follow-through; and help residents navigate barriers to accessing services.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with relevant organizations and individuals, with an emphasis on providing on-site services to residents and the community.
  • Plan and coordinate recreational, cultural, and social activities in coordination with property operations staff and residents as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive list of available community resources for residents.
  • Promote inclusion, accessibility, and nondiscrimination; support residents in understanding available fair housing and reasonable accommodation resources, and follow established procedures for escalating concerns.
  • Collaborate closely with the Property Manager and site team to support resident needs and property goals while maintaining the distinct, voluntary, and confidential nature of service coordination.
  • Attend all staff meetings, training courses, and conferences as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the position and the organization’s overall goals and objectives.

**Additional duties and special projects may be assigned**

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend, and inspect apartments, buildings, grounds, and common areas, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work periodically outdoors in typical Florida weather conditions and travel locally for outreach, inspections, training, or business needs.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, community development, public health, or a related field preferred; relevant education and experience may be considered in combination.

Experience

  • At least 2–4 years of relevant experience in resident services, affordable housing, community development, social services, case management, or a related field.
  • Experience working in Section 8, HUD-assisted, or other affordable housing settings preferred; familiarity with housing-stability resources, benefits programs, fair housing principles, and trauma-informed resident engagement is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct community assessments, coordinate services, manage crises appropriately, apply conflict-resolution and de-escalation techniques, organize programs, and work effectively with residents from varied backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, organizational, and documentation skills, with sound judgment and the ability to handle sensitive resident information appropriately.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, workshops, and community gatherings effectively and to build productive partnerships with residents, property staff, and community providers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams, and the ability to learn resident-services and reporting systems.

Compensation

  • Compensation commensurate with experience; travel and on-site support may be required based on portfolio needs.

We are an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran status, or disability.
