About the Position

We are looking for a dependable, safety-focused Heavy Equipment Operator to join our residential plumbing team. This position is responsible for operating excavation equipment to support residential plumbing installations, repairs, sewer and water service work, and new construction projects.

The ideal candidate has experience operating excavators, skid steers, and other construction equipment, understands safe excavation practices, and takes pride in completing quality work efficiently while working alongside plumbers and ground crews.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate mini excavators, excavators, skid steers, and other equipment used for residential plumbing excavation.
• Excavate trenches for water lines, sewer lines, underground plumbing, and utility connections.
• Assist plumbing crews with new installations, repairs, replacements, and residential service work.
• Dig accurately around existing utilities while following utility-locating requirements and safe digging procedures.
• Backfill trenches and assist with grading, site restoration, and cleanup.
• Load, move, and position materials, soil, gravel, and other jobsite materials as needed.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance issues.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites.
• Communicate effectively with plumbers, laborers, supervisors, and homeowners when necessary.
• Follow company safety policies, project specifications, and applicable excavation regulations.
• Help with general labor duties when equipment operation is not required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating heavy equipment in residential construction, excavation, plumbing, or utility work preferred.
• Experience with mini excavators, excavators, and skid steers strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of trenching, backfilling, grading, and underground utility installation.
• Understanding of underground utility locating and safe excavation practices.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift, carry, and perform physical jobsite duties as required.
• Dependable, punctual, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or as part of a crew.
• Willingness to follow instructions and maintain a professional attitude on residential jobsites.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime based on workload and project demands.
