Job Overview
Eden West Care Ltd is looking for compassionate, reliable and enthusiastic Residential Support Workers to join the team at Kingsleigh House, our two-bed children's home in Kingswood, Bristol.
At Eden West, we believe that positive relationships, consistency and a genuine understanding of each child are at the heart of good residential care. Our approach is trauma-informed and relationship-based, incorporating PACE, the Trauma Recovery Model and Positive Behaviour Support to help children feel safe, understood and supported to make progress.
As a Residential Support Worker, you will play an important role in creating a warm, nurturing and stable home environment for the children in our care. This isn't just about completing tasks or managing routines. You'll spend time building meaningful relationships, creating positive experiences and supporting children through both the ordinary and more challenging moments of everyday life.
The role will include working a 2-on, 4-off rolling rota, including sleep-ins, weekends and Bank Holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Build safe, trusting and consistent relationships with children and young people.
- Provide nurturing, child-centred care that reflects each child's individual needs, experiences and care plan.
- Support children with everyday routines, including education, appointments, meals, activities, personal care where required and maintaining their home environment.
- Plan and take part in activities, hobbies, days out and positive experiences.
- Support children to develop independence, confidence, emotional regulation and practical life skills.
- Use trauma-informed, PACE and Positive Behaviour Support approaches when responding to behaviour and emotional distress.
- Safeguard children and respond appropriately to any concerns, disclosures or changes in risk.
- Support children following incidents using restorative and relationship-based approaches.
- Complete clear and accurate daily records, reports and other required documentation.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, social workers, education providers and other professionals.
- Attend training, supervision, reflective practice and team meetings.
- Support the wider development of the home and contribute positively to the culture of Eden West.
About You
You do not need to have spent your whole career working in residential childcare. We are interested in people with the right values, resilience and ability to build positive relationships with children.
Previous experience working with children, young people, residential care, education, youth work, mental health, support work or similar settings would be beneficial.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is warm, caring and genuinely interested in supporting children.
- Can build positive relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Is patient, emotionally resilient and able to remain calm during challenging situations.
- Understands that behaviour is a form of communication and is willing to look beyond the behaviour to understand the child.
- Can work effectively as part of a team.
- Is reliable, reflective and open to learning.
- Has good written and verbal communication skills.
- Is comfortable using IT systems for recording and reporting.
- Is able to work the required rolling rota, including weekends and sleep-ins.
- Holds a full UK driving licence and is willing to drive as part of the role.
A Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare is desirable but not essential. Where required, successful candidates will be supported to undertake the relevant qualification.
