What they need
The Cindy Platt Boys & Girls Club of Transylvania County is looking for a Resiliency Coordinator to join our team!
Our Club is a fun, energetic, and wonderfully noisy place where kids learn, grow, play, and discover what they're capable of. We're looking for someone who enjoys being in an active environment, taking part in our daily programming, building meaningful relationships with members, supporting your Operations teammates, and helping create an environment where every child feels safe, supported, and successful.
This a full-time, salaried, on-site, 40-hour per week position.
What You'll Do
Connect With Kids and Help Them Grow
- Spend meaningful time with members on the program floor, building relationships and providing encouragement, coaching, and non-clinical social-emotional support.
- Help kids develop coping skills, confidence, resilience, and positive relationships.
- Lead small groups and activities that teach social-emotional and life skills. Create activities as assigned.
- Support members as they work through everyday challenges, big feelings, and difficult moments.
- Be an active participant in Club programming, whether that means joining an activity, helping with a group, or stepping in where needed. Serve in programming as assigned.
Be a Resource for Our Operations Team
- Serve as a trusted resource and thought partner for our Operations team, helping and training staff to understand and respond to youth behaviors.
- Share practical strategies for relationship building, positive behavior support, and trauma-informed practices.
- Collaborate with other Operations team members to create a positive, consistent, and supportive environment.
- Help staff build confidence and skills in supporting members with a wide range of needs.
- Participate in staff training and contribute to our team-centered culture.
Connect Families, Programs, and Community Resources
- Help members and families connect with appropriate community resources when additional support is needed.
- Build relationships with schools, community organizations, and youth-serving agencies.
- Coordinate our mentoring program and support social-emotional learning initiatives, including SMART Moves.
- Partner with other Club leaders to support programming, special events, and family engagement activities.
What We're Looking For
We'd love to meet someone who:
- Genuinely enjoys kids and brings warmth, patience, and positive energy to their work.
- Is flexible with a good attitude.
- Can remain calm, flexible, and solution-focused when things get busy.
- Enjoys collaborating with others, and embraces their role as it relates to the entire Operations team.
- Can balance compassion with clear expectations and appropriate boundaries.
- Is a team player who doesn't hesitate to jump in and help.
- Has strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and professional skills.
- Appreciates that no two days at the Club are quite the same!
- Is skilled in working in an on-site, professional work environment with a variety of people and personalities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related human-services field.
- Experience working with at-risk youth and families.
- Master's degree in counseling or a related field is a plus, but not required.
- Strong interpersonal and professional skills and the ability to build positive relationships with youth, families, and colleagues.
- Valid driver's license as well as the willingness and ability to obtain a CDL to drive Club buses.
- Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Ability to successfully complete required background checks and drug screenings.
What to Expect
Our Club is an active, engaging, and loud environment when our members are on-site. You'll spend a significant portion of your day interacting directly with members and staff, especially during our after-school and summer programs.
You'll also participate in the everyday work of the Club, helping with activities, transitions, supervision, and other shared team responsibilities.
Schedule:
- School year: Monday–Friday, 10:00 AM–7:00 PM, including a one-hour lunch break.
- Summer: Typically an eight-hour shift between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM.
- Some schedule flexibility is required for special programs and events.
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week, on-site position.
