What they need
Position Summary:
JC CoolThink Junior develops computational thinking among P1 to P3 students across 200 primary schools in Hong Kong and seven community CT hubs over Y0 to Y4 (Jun 2026 to Aug 2030), led by YCCECE for HKJCCT, with project partners CityUHK and ACTiCT.
The Resource Development Specialist and Professional Development Trainer serves two related functions across CoolThink Junior. During the resource development phase the post creates the teaching and learning materials that underpin the programme; once resources are substantially complete by Y1Q2 to Q3, the post delivers professional development and classroom support for the remainder of the project.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and production of the School Unplugged Pack (30 teaching kits per school), ensuring age-appropriate design across P1 to P3.
- Collaborate with the freelance graphic designer on the visual design of printed and digital teaching materials.
- Support the design and fit-out of community CT hub spaces alongside the appointed designer.
- Contribute to Family Kits, demonstration videos, teacher guides, and supplementary resources.
- Deliver Foundation PD workshops (PD1 3 hours, PD2 3 hours, and Showcase 1 hour) leading to the Foundation Certificate in CT Education.
- Conduct in-person school visits to new cohort schools (3 visits per school in Y1 to Y2) and follow-up Zoom sessions thereafter.
- Train ICYSC social workers and youth facilitators in hub-based CT delivery, and model effective CT teaching during school visits.
- Support the mentor scheme and CoolThink Challenge events (Y2 to Y4), and compile teacher feedback and classroom observation data.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or above in Education, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years in educational resource development, teacher training, workshop facilitation, or primary classroom teaching in Hong Kong; instructional design experience preferred.
- Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, and design and video production tools.
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel frequently across Hong Kong to visit schools and hub sites.
- Proficiency in both English and Chinese, written and spoken.
Salary and Fringe Benefits:
Initial appointment will normally be made on a renewable 24+ months contract.
Remuneration is competitive and will be based on qualifications and relevant experience. The College offers group medical insurance and dental, staff development support and leave provisions (annual leave, birthday leave, college leave, etc) to eligible appointee.
Important Notes:
- Appointee will undergo a Medical Examination and the Sexual Conviction Record Check.
Personal data collected will be used for recruitment-related purposes only.
