An established resort, Heron Island accommodates up to nearly 300 guests with the primary draw card being located right on the Great Barrier Reef. The island is situated 2 hours by boat from Gladstone, QLD, with a ferry connecting 5 times a week. There is a marine centre, activities centre, boutique, award-winning day spa, spacious lounge and bar overlooking the pool plus the expansive Shearwater Restaurant. Marine activities for guests and staff include world-class diving, snorkelling, kayaking and cruises.

Our Shearwater Restaurant is open every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is an extensive hot and cold buffet style of a high and generous standard. Lunch is a la carte focusing on light to medium meals. Dinner is a variety of multi-selection buffet and a la carte.

Heron Island is calling for a dynamic and motivated Restaurant Manager to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Menu Planning & Development: Collaborate with chefs to craft diverse, exciting menus that delight guests.

• Operational Management: Oversee daily restaurant operations, including purchasing, stock & inventory control, and financial transactions, create rosters every week for the restaurant & bar team.

• Customer Relations: Communicate with guests to ensure satisfaction, resolve any issues, and ensure memorable dining experiences.

• Staff Leadership: Recruit, train, and manage a motivated team while maintaining a positive work culture.

• Performance & Targets: Set and track sales and expenditure targets to drive restaurant success.

• Special Events: Organize and execute promotional events to boost engagement and guest experience.

• Ensuring that dining areas meet health and safety regulations and are maintained in a clean, functional, and aesthetically pleasing condition.

What you will bring to the role:

• Minimum 2 years-experience working as a Restaurant/Bar Manager or equivalent experience in a resort or hospitality environment.
• Ability to motivate and lead by example.
• Excellent time management skills including speed and efficiency.
• Manage budgets, control costs and optimize revenue through effective pricing, promotion and inventory management.
• Manage all Food & Beverage operational aspects in collaboration with your leadership team.
• Excellent communication and guest relation skills.
• Responsible Management of Licensed Premises certificate would be ideal.
• Friendly and flexible disposition that demonstrates a high level of professionalism.
• Can do attitude who works safely at all times!
