For more than 131 years and four generations, J.C. Newman Cigar Co. has handcrafted the world's finest cigars in the heart of Tampa's historic Ybor City. Our factory, El Reloj, is the last operating hand-rolled cigar factory in the United States-a living landmark where more than 25,000 guests from around the world visit each year to experience Tampa's cigar heritage.

In late 2026, we will open three new hospitality experiences inside a beautifully restored 1910 building across the street from El Reloj: Elaine's, a classic American restaurant with continental and local influences serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner; Stanford's Cigar Club, a premium cigar lounge built around an exclusive barrel-aged spirits and reserve red wine program; and The Inn at El Reloj, eleven beautifully appointed guest rooms upstairs from Elaine's. Together with our private events programming on both sides of the street, they form the El Reloj District, a hospitality destination unlike anything else in Tampa.

We are seeking an experienced and guest-focused Bartender to deliver exceptional beverage service while maintaining an organized and compliant bar operation. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-volume hospitality environment and takes pride in both service and operational excellence.

Who You Are

You are knowledgeable, efficient, and guest-focused. You stay composed during busy shifts and understand that accuracy, compliance, and hospitality go hand in hand. You take ownership of your bar area and contribute positively to the overall team environment.

You likely bring:

• At least 2 years of bartending experience
• Strong knowledge of spirits, classic cocktails, wine, beer, and proper preparation techniques
• Experience in high-volume restaurant or bar environments preferred
• Ability to operate point-of-sale systems accurately and efficiently
• Proficiency with basic computer programs, including POS systems
• Strong communication skills and a professional presence

What You Will Do

As a Bartender, your top priority is delivering outstanding beverage service while maintaining accurate inventory practices and ensuring compliance with all alcohol service regulations. You play a key role in creating a welcoming and memorable guest experience.

You will be:

• Preparing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages using measured pours for bar and restaurant guests
• Preparing and checking the quality of juices, syrups, batches, garnishes, and other ingredients for service
• Interacting with guests, taking orders, and serving beverages and light snacks
• Assessing guest preferences and making appropriate food and beverage recommendations
• Verifying guest identification to ensure compliance with legal drinking age requirements
• Restocking and replenishing bar inventory and supplies
• Processing cash and credit card transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe bar environment
• Assisting with monthly liquor inventory counts
• Monitoring and reviewing inventory variances with management
• Assisting with ordering liquor products and bar supplies such as ice, garnishes, and mixers
• Ensuring product efficiency by maintaining appropriate inventory levels and usage
• Receiving invoices and deliveries
• Complying with all food and beverage safety regulations

Physical RequirementsWork Environment

• Ability to stand and walk for up to 10 hours per shift
• Ability to bend, push, pull, and lift up to 30 pounds
• Fast-paced bar and restaurant environment with moderate to high noise levels
• Availability to work mornings and/or evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require
