Restaurant Expeditor (KDS Expert)

Kitchen expediter ensures that all kitchen orders are prepared in a timely manner and according to menu and guest specifications. Expediters are in charge of the final presentation of the plate, making sure it is dressed and garnished correctly and free from smudges or spills. To keep orders flowing from the kitchen to the guests, an expediter directs kitchen runners and wait staff who are delivering completed orders. Must be experienced in high-volume.

The expediter must be highly proficient in Kitchen Display Systems (KDS), such as Toast, with expert-level knowledge of managing, tracking, prioritizing, and coordinating orders through the system. S/he must be able to efficiently navigate the KDS, monitor ticket times, manage order modifications, identify delays, and troubleshoot common system issues to ensure smooth communication between the kitchen and service staff. Strong KDS experience is essential to maintaining an organized and efficient kitchen operation, particularly during high-volume service periods.

Job Qualifications:

• 1 year experience as a kitchen expeditor on KDS. Additional experience as food runner, line cook or server in a full-service restaurant preferred.
• Must possess great communication skills.
• Ability to work positively in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to be on your feet and alert for extended periods of time.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Ability to work effectively within a team.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. as needed.
• Continuous use of hands and arms as well as bending, reaching and twisting.
