Full-Time | Restaurant Operations

About Bella Restaurants Group

Bella Restaurants Group is a growing Houston-based restaurant company operating multiple concepts across the fast-casual and full-service restaurant industry. Our portfolio includes brands such as Coco Crêpes & Coffee, ZOA Moroccan Kitchen, Mi Luna Tapas Restaurant & Bar, and Mia Bella Trattoria.

We are building a restaurant organization centered around strong systems, operational excellence, hospitality, accountability, and developing great people. We are looking for Restaurant Managers who want to take ownership of their restaurant—not simply manage shifts.

The Role

The Restaurant Manager is responsible for the day-to-day performance of the restaurant, including team leadership, guest experience, sales growth, labor management, food cost, cleanliness, training, and execution of Bella Restaurants Group standards.

This is a hands-on leadership position. You will be expected to lead from the floor, develop your team, solve problems quickly, maintain high operating standards, and consistently improve the performance of your restaurant.

Our strongest managers operate their restaurants with an ownership mentality.

Key ResponsibilitiesRestaurant Operations

  • Lead daily restaurant operations and ensure every shift is properly prepared and executed.
  • Maintain excellent standards for food quality, service, cleanliness, organization, and hospitality.
  • Conduct opening, shift-change, and closing inspections.
  • Ensure restaurant equipment, facilities, and smallwares are properly maintained.
  • Identify operational problems before they impact the guest experience.
  • Ensure company policies, recipes, procedures, and operating standards are consistently followed.
  • Maintain compliance with health department, food safety, alcohol, labor, and company requirements.

Team Leadership

  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop high-performing restaurant employees.
  • Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable for performance.
  • Create a positive, professional, and performance-driven restaurant culture.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate daily priorities to the team.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and recognition to employees.
  • Address performance problems promptly and professionally.
  • Develop employees who have the potential to become trainers, shift leaders, and future managers.

Guest Experience

  • Ensure every guest receives friendly, fast, and professional service.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the restaurant floor during peak periods.
  • Handle guest concerns professionally and resolve issues quickly.
  • Build relationships with regular guests and the surrounding community.
  • Review guest feedback and take corrective action when necessary.

Financial Performance

The Restaurant Manager is expected to understand and improve the financial performance of the restaurant.

Responsibilities include:

  • Growing restaurant sales.
  • Managing labor according to company targets.
  • Controlling food and beverage costs.
  • Reducing waste, over-portioning, theft, and unnecessary expenses.
  • Monitoring overtime and employee scheduling.
  • Reviewing restaurant performance against budget and prior periods.
  • Maintaining proper inventory levels.
  • Ensuring accurate cash handling and financial controls.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve restaurant profitability.

Managers should understand that strong restaurant operations ultimately need to produce strong financial results.

Scheduling & Labor

  • Create effective employee schedules based on projected sales and operational needs.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels during peak and non-peak periods.
  • Minimize unnecessary overtime.
  • Ensure employees arrive on time, in uniform, and prepared for their shifts.
  • Adjust staffing when business conditions change.

Training & Development

  • Ensure new employees complete required onboarding and training.
  • Verify employees are properly trained before working positions independently.
  • Conduct continuous training on service, food preparation, cleanliness, safety, and company standards.
  • Cross-train employees to improve restaurant flexibility.
  • Develop future leaders within the restaurant.

Inventory & Cost Controls

  • Complete inventory accurately and on schedule.
  • Monitor product usage, waste, transfers, and purchasing.
  • Maintain proper ordering levels.
  • Ensure products are stored, labeled, rotated, and handled correctly.
  • Investigate unusual food-cost or inventory variances.
  • Protect company assets and minimize loss.

Cleanliness & Food Safety

  • Maintain a restaurant that is consistently clean, organized, and inspection-ready.
  • Ensure employees follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain appropriate temperature, cleaning, and food-safety logs.
  • Correct maintenance and cleanliness issues immediately.
  • Maintain excellent health inspection standards.

What Success Looks Like

Successful Restaurant Managers at Bella Restaurants Group:

  • Run clean, organized, well-prepared restaurants.
  • Build strong teams with low unnecessary turnover.
  • Maintain appropriate labor levels.
  • Control food costs and waste.
  • Consistently deliver excellent guest experiences.
  • Grow restaurant sales.
  • Develop employees into future leaders.
  • Communicate problems before they become emergencies.
  • Complete required administrative responsibilities accurately and on time.
  • Take ownership rather than waiting to be told what to do.

Qualifications

Preferred:

  • 2+ years of restaurant management or high-level supervisory experience.
  • Experience managing a high-volume restaurant environment.
  • Strong understanding of restaurant operations, labor, scheduling, inventory, and food cost.
