About the role

We are seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager to join the Woodfire Penang team on a full-time basis. This is a strategic leadership position based in Penang Island, Penang, where you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of restaurant operations and ensuring the delivery of exceptional service standards. The Restaurant Manager plays a crucial role in driving the success of our establishment, managing both front-of-house and back-of-house operations whilst maintaining profitability and guest satisfaction.

What you'll be doing

• Oversee daily restaurant operations, including opening and closing procedures, inventory management and stock control
• Manage and supervise restaurant staff, including recruitment, training, scheduling and performance management
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and hygiene regulations, as well as all relevant licensing requirements
• Monitor and maintain service quality standards, conducting regular audits and implementing improvements
• Manage customer relations and handle guest complaints professionally and effectively to ensure satisfaction
• Control costs and manage budgets, including food costs, labour costs and operational expenses
• Implement and maintain effective communication between front-of-house and kitchen staff
• Develop and execute marketing strategies and promotional activities to drive revenue and customer footfall
• Report on key performance indicators and financial metrics to senior management
• Foster a positive workplace culture and support staff development and career progression

What we're looking for

• Proven experience of at least 3-5 years in a restaurant management role or similar hospitality leadership position
• Strong knowledge of restaurant operations, including food service, inventory management and cost control
• Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities, with proficiency in both English and Malay
• Sound understanding of health, safety and food hygiene regulations applicable to the food service industry
• Proficiency in using point-of-sale (POS) systems and restaurant management software
• Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage budgets and analyse performance data
• Flexibility and resilience, with the capacity to work variable hours including evenings, weekends and public holidays
• A passion for hospitality and a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
