What they need

About the Venue

Following a complete, high-specification architectural refurbishment, Hogs Inn, The Pinewood is launching in the historic heart of Welshpool this November.

Blending rich local heritage with a contemporary hospitality experience, the venue brings together an intimate artisan coffee lounge, an evening cocktail and wine bar featuring Monty’s Brewery ales and Henstone Distillery spirits, a brand-new live acoustic space, and luxury boutique apartments above. At the centre of our dining concept is an electric commercial kitchen serving locally sourced, seasonal small plates paired with curated international wines.

We are not merely opening a venue; we are creating Welshpool’s premier social and dining destination. We are looking for an exceptional, hands-on Restaurant Manager to take operational ownership of the floor, lead our front-of-house team, and set the standard from day one.

The Role

As Restaurant Manager, you will work in direct partnership with the General Manager and Head Chef to lead pre-opening preparations, service design, and daily floor operations. You will champion faultless guest journeys, manage floor pace, uphold food and safety compliance, and drive both team culture and commercial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pre-Opening & Launch: Assist with initial operational setup, floor layouts, table planning, and service drills leading into the November launch.
  • Service Leadership: Oversee daily lunch and evening restaurant services, ensuring smooth communication between the floor, the bar, and the kitchen pass.
  • Team Development: Recruit, onboard, and train a passionate front-of-house team across table service, allergen awareness, beverage pairings, and EPOS till operations.
  • Guest Experience: Act as the welcoming face of the dining room, handling guest inquiries, VIP visits, private bookings, and resolving service feedback with poise and professionalism.
  • Commercial & Inventory Control: Drive floor upselling initiatives, manage daily till reconciliations, monitor food & beverage margins, and control front-of-house stock levels and serviceware.
  • Standards & Compliance: Maintain pristine cleanliness across all dining, snug, and terrace trade areas while strictly upholding Food Hygiene, Allergen, and Health & Safety regulations.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Proven Management Background: At least 2+ years of supervisory or management experience within high-quality casual dining, premium gastro-pubs, or boutique hotel restaurants.
  • Passion for Food & Drink: Genuine appreciation for seasonal food, wine, craft beers, and cocktails, with the ability to inspire and educate the floor team.
  • Strong Operational Acumen: Proficient with modern cloud-based EPOS systems, table booking software, and staff scheduling.
  • Lead-from-the-Front Attitude: High energy, calm under pressure, and actively present on the floor during peak trading hours.
  • Local or Commutable: Based within easy commuting distance of Welshpool town centre.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary package with performance-based incentives.
  • Generous staff discount across dining, bar, and venue offerings.
  • Opportunity to shape a flagship venue from its pre-opening phase into long-term operations.
  • Career growth and autonomy within an ambitious, expanding hospitality portfolio.
  • Comprehensive training and induction programme.
