Restaurant Server

This position is with Café Il Mondo, an Italian restaurant located in the town of Honokaa on Hawaiʻi Island. Since opening its doors in Honokaa, Café Il Mondo has continued to serve the community with freshly prepared Italian food, with a special focus on pizzas made with house-made dough and baked in our in-house oven. Known for its memorable interior and exterior, Café Il Mondo welcomes both loyal local customers and visitors from outside the community with a warm, hospitality-minded approach. As Restaurant Server, who serves food and drinks to patrons at the Café Il Mondo restaurant, your responsibility includes:

• Assisting the general restaurant staff by performing opening and closing duties as dictated by the timing of your shift;
• Greeting and seating guests:
• Distributing menus, explaining daily specials, and answering questions and making recommendations about menu items;
• Taking orders, including accurately recording food and beverage orders, including any special requests;
• Communicating with the kitchen staff promptly and effectively to relay customer orders;
• Promptly delivering food and drinks to customers in a timely manner, ensuring proper presentation;
• Customer service, including regularly checking on customers to address any needs or concerns, offering additional items or services if appropriate;
• Presenting the bill, accepting payment, and providing change accurately;
• Clearing plates, utensils, and tables, and resetting tables between customers, and maintaining cleanliness in assignment sections;
• Handling customer complaints professionally and attempting to resolve issues promptly;
• Presentation of the restaurant and the staff in a professional manner, including adhering to dress code, sanitation standards, and conduct standards;
• Conducting any other responsibilities as needed in a prompt, friendly, and organized manner.

The ideal candidate will have customer-facing, hospitality, and food service experience relevant to restaurants, cafés, hospitality, retail food operations, or a related business. Preferred qualifications include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Prior experience or training in hospitality, food service, customer service, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience in restaurant service, hospitality, customer service, front-of-house operations, food service, or related guest-facing roles
• Ability to work effectively as part of a restaurant team, follow direction from managers, and support fellow staff during service
• Experience in customer service, hospitality, restaurant service, sales, or other guest-facing roles
• Ability to manage multiple tables, take orders accurately, communicate guest needs to kitchen staff, and provide timely service during peak periods
• Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, time-management, and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a hands-on restaurant environment and collaborate effectively with managers, kitchen staff, front-of-house staff, and delivery teams
• Familiarity with food safety practices, sanitation procedures, allergen awareness, and responsible alcohol service requirements is preferred

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 per hour
