Restructuring Partner

A leading global law firm is seeking a Restructuring Partner to join its New York team, with a focus on creditor-side transactional restructuring and special situations. The ideal candidate will have experience representing administrative agents, senior secured lenders, private lenders and creditor groups, with an established network among private credit funds, hedge funds, distressed investors or ad hoc creditor groups.

The role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated domestic and cross-border restructuring matters while continuing to develop a strong practice within a highly regarded global platform.

Responsibilities:

• Represent senior secured lenders, administrative agents, private lenders and creditor groups in complex restructuring and special situations.
• Advise financial institutions, private credit funds, hedge funds, distressed investors and other stakeholders on distressed and restructuring transactions.
• Review and analyse credit agreements and advise clients on rights, remedies and strategic options.
• Advise lender groups on governance, intercreditor issues and other matters arising in distressed situations.
• Negotiate and structure forbearance agreements, waivers and credit agreement amendments.
• Advise clients on out-of-court restructurings, workouts and other consensual restructuring solutions.
• Represent creditors in bankruptcy proceedings, reorganizations, receiverships and other formal insolvency proceedings.
• Advise on distressed debt and equity matters, asset sales and other strategic exit opportunities.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with sophisticated institutional clients and financial investors.
• Collaborate with restructuring, finance, litigation and other practice groups on complex and cross-border matters.
• Contribute to the continued expansion and development of the firm's restructuring and special situations practice.

Qualifications:

• Significant experience as a restructuring attorney, with a strong creditor-side transactional restructuring practice.
• Proven experience representing administrative agents, senior secured lenders, private lenders and/or creditor groups.
• Strong understanding of distressed and special situations transactions.
• Experience with credit agreement review and analysis, lender-group governance, forbearance agreements, waivers and credit agreement amendments.
• Strong experience handling out-of-court restructurings and workouts.
• An established client base and relationships with private credit funds, hedge funds, distressed investors and/or ad hoc creditor groups is highly desirable.
• Experience advising clients across a broad range of restructuring, insolvency and distressed situations.
• Strong commercial judgement, drafting and negotiation skills.
• Admission to the New York Bar.
