Retail & Human Resources SETA Learner

Purpose of the Programme

This 12-Month Retail Management Learnership Programme is designed to provide unemployed youth with an opportunity to gain practical work experience while completing a learning programme in Retail Management. The successful learner will be based within the Human Resources Department, where they will provide administrative support and gain workplace exposure. While assisting HR, the primary focus of the programme is to develop skills, knowledge, and experience in Retail Management, preparing learners for future career opportunities within the retail industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Human Resources Department with general administrative duties.
• Maintain and update employee records, filing systems, and HR documentation.
• Support recruitment and onboarding activities when required.
• Assist with attendance registers, leave administration, and employee record keeping.
• Gain practical workplace experience in retail operations and retail management.
• Assist with customer service, stock control, merchandising, and other retail-related functions.
• Participate in workplace training, learnership workshops, assessments, and development activities.
• Ensure accurate completion of assigned tasks and administrative duties.
• Maintain confidentiality of company and employee information at all times.
• Perform any other duties assigned by management to support learning and development.

Job Requirements

• Must be unemployed and available for the full 12-month learnership programme.
• Applicants must meet the applicable age requirements (18-35 years) and all other eligibility criteria of the SETA-funded learnership programme.
• Must have a Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate.
• Must have a strong interest in pursuing a career in Retail Management.
• An interest in Human Resources and Administration will be advantageous.
• Must reside within the area where the position is based.
• Must be a South African citizen with a valid South African ID.
• Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Professional, reliable, and eager to learn.
