Retail Assistant – Wargaming & TCG Store

We’re looking for a friendly, reliable and enthusiastic Retail Assistant to join our team at Sanctuary Ganing Centre.

We’re a gaming-focused retail and events business specialising in trading card games, tabletop wargaming, board games and gaming accessories, alongside a small café-style food and drinks offering.

You don’t need to be an expert in everything we sell, but knowledge or experience of wargaming, TCGs or the wider tabletop gaming hobby would be a big advantage. More importantly, we’re looking for someone who enjoys talking to people, providing good customer service and being part of a gaming community.

What you’ll be doing

Your role will be varied, including:

• Serving customers and providing friendly, knowledgeable assistance
• Operating the till and handling cash/card payments
• Receiving, checking and putting away stock
• Maintaining attractive and well-organised displays
• Helping customers with TCGs, wargaming products, board games and accessories
• Preparing and serving basic food
• Making hot and cold drinks such as tea and coffee
• Keeping the shop, café and gaming areas clean and presentable
• Helping set up and clear away gaming events and tournaments
• Supporting stock counts and general shop administration
• Answering customer questions and helping resolve problems
• Following food hygiene, health and safety and company procedures

About you

We're looking for someone who is:

• Friendly, approachable and comfortable speaking with customers
• Reliable and able to work as part of a small team
• Comfortable working independently when required
• Organised and willing to get stuck into a variety of tasks
• Confident handling money and using a till
• Happy working in a busy retail environment
• Interested in games and able to talk enthusiastically with customers about them

Knowledge of trading card games, tabletop wargaming, board games or miniature gaming is highly desirable. Whether you play Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon, Warhammer or another system, we'd love to hear from you.

Previous retail, café or hospitality experience is useful, but enthusiasm, reliability and a good attitude are just as important. Training will be provided for our systems and the food and drink side of the role.
