Position Summary

• Shift Pattern: Part-time & Full-time opportunities (37.5 hours per week)

We run a busy retail store in Central Glasgow known for clean visual displays and attentive customer service. We are bringing on a Retail Assistant to join our store team and help us keep the shop floor well-stocked, organized, and welcoming for every visitor.

What You Will Be Doing

• Welcoming visitors warmly, offering help, and answering questions about products on the floor.
• Operating the checkout till accurately, handling card or cash payments, and processing returns and gift receipts.
• Unpacking daily stock deliveries, checking deliveries against invoices, and organizing the stockroom.
• Replenishing shelves, rails, and display tables throughout the shift to maintain product availability.
• Keeping display areas, fitting rooms, and counter spaces clean, tidy, and presentable.
• Helping carry out routine stock counts and audits to ensure accurate inventory levels.
• Spotting when a customer looks lost or needs assistance and offering polite, low-pressure support.

What We’re Looking For

Previous experience is a plus, but not essential as full training is provided. We are mainly looking for a approachable manner, good attention to detail, and a strong work ethic during busy trading hours.

We encourage applications from candidates with transferable backgrounds in hospitality, food service, customer support, administration, or university team activities.

• Communication: Friendly, polite spoken manner and good listening skills.
• Eye for Detail: Keeping displays organized, checking price tags, and maintaining high shop floor standards.
• Punctuality & Reliability: Consistently arriving on time and contributing reliably during peak store hours.
• Practical Numeracy: Basic math skills for handling cash and operating till software smoothly.

Learning & On-the-Job Coaching

You will partner with an experienced shop floor buddy during your first few weeks, giving you practical, hands-on experience across all store tasks:

• Structured training on our till systems, till reconciliation, and return policies.
• Guidance on visual merchandising, stock rotation, and warehouse safety.
• Regular 1-on-1 check-ins with shift managers to offer constructive feedback and help build your confidence.
• Opportunities over time to learn stock ordering, keyholding, or visual presentation coordination.

Pay & Staff Perks

• Pay Rate: £14 – £16 per hour (commensurate with age and experience)
