Retail Assistant Manager

Position Overview

The Assistant Manager works closely with the Gift Shop Manager to oversee daily operations, support and motivate employees, maintain attractive merchandise displays, and ensure every guest receives outstanding service. We’re looking for a hands-on leader who can balance customer service, sales, merchandising, and team development in a busy retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Gift Shop Manager with daily store operations and overall shop performance.
• Lead by example by providing exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
• Supervise, coach, and support sales associates to encourage teamwork and strong sales performance.
• Assist with scheduling, training, and onboarding team members.
• Help manage inventory, receive shipments, restock merchandise, and maintain accurate product displays.
• Ensure the gift shop is clean, organized, visually appealing, and properly stocked.
• Monitor sales activity and help achieve store sales goals.
• Handle customer questions, concerns, and service issues professionally.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and register operations.
• Maintain merchandise presentation and uphold the high standards associated with McGuire’s Irish Pub.
• Communicate effectively with management and team members to ensure smooth daily operations.

Qualifications

• Previous retail, sales, or customer service experience required.
• Previous supervisory or assistant management experience preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• A positive attitude with a hands-on, team-oriented approach.
• Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable handling cash, operating a POS system, and assisting with inventory.
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as business needs require.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with stocking and moving merchandise.
