Retail Manager

Founded in 1995, Kiefer Nursery is one of Durham’s largest nurseries, offering both retail nursery plants for the avid gardener and wholesale nursery crops to the Triangle’s finest landscape contractors.

We are looking for an experienced, hardworking individual to join our nursery team as Retail Nursery Manager. Day to day responsibilities will include assisting customers, merchandizing plants, and coordinating retail nursery operations. Plant knowledge is very important for this role, specifically perennials, shrubs, and trees.

This is a role for a passionate plant lover that will share that excitement with anyone they meet. In this role you will be leading a team of 3-5 people to assist our customers and keep our retail area stocked and beautiful. A background in a retail or wholesale nursery would make you an excellent candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet customers and make them feel welcome
• Provide general horticultural advice and recommend plants for the customer’s needs
• Make sure all plant material is tagged for sale and displayed well
• Help growing staff maintain nursery inventory and plant database on website
• Assist with marketing campaigns including newsletter, social media, and nursery signage
• Coordinate purchasing of stocked hard goods and maintain that inventory

Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of nursery industry experience
• Minimum 3 years managerial experience
• Plant knowledge, specifically perennials, shrubs, and trees.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Irrigation troubleshooting and repair
• Insect and disease diagnosis and treatment
• Ability to communicate job tasks in Spanish

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
