Join our team as a Night Manager!

SPAR Princess Street is a busy 24-hour store in the heart of Manchester City Centre, serving a wide range of customers throughout the night.

We are looking for a reliable, confident and experienced Night Manager to take responsibility for the store overnight and lead the team to maintain high standards of customer service, security, cleanliness and availability.

This is a hands-on management role. You will need to be comfortable taking charge, directing colleagues and making decisions independently, while ensuring the store continues to operate safely and professionally throughout the night.

What you'll be doing

• Taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of the store overnight

• Leading, supporting and directing the night team

• Delegating tasks and ensuring colleagues remain productive and focused

• Delivering excellent customer service and creating a welcoming shopping environment

• Dealing confidently and professionally with difficult, challenging or rowdy customers

• Maintaining store security and following company security procedures

• Monitoring the shop floor and responding appropriately to incidents

• Operating tills and handling cash accurately

• Replenishing stock and maintaining excellent availability

• Ensuring shelves, displays and the wider store are kept to a high standard

• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food hygiene, health & safety and presentation

• Completing relevant checks and paperwork

• Dealing with deliveries and stock when required

• Identifying and addressing issues before they become problems

• Supporting colleagues and leading by example

• Ensuring the store is ready for the morning team and customers

Experience

You need a Personal Licence for the Sale of Alcohol to do the role. If you don’t have one upon application we can put you on a course to get one, but you must pass and obtain your licence within 3 months or you wont pass your probation. (This does include a CRB check)

Previous retail management, supervisory or night-work experience is highly desirable.

Experience working in a busy city-centre environment would be an advantage.

Night work can be challenging, so we're looking for someone who understands the demands of working overnight and is able to remain alert, professional and productive throughout the shift.

The ideal candidate

This role would suit someone who is already an experienced Night Manager, Duty Manager, Supervisor or Senior Retail Assistant and is ready to take the next step.

You don't need to stand behind the till all night — you need to be someone who can lead the team, maintain control of the store, deal with customers confidently and make sure things get done to a high standard.
