Retail Outlet Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Retail Outlet Assistant to join the team at ELGINI SDN BHD. This is a full-time position based in Penang Island, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service and supporting the smooth daily operations of our retail outlet. As a Retail Outlet Assistant, you will be at the heart of our business, creating positive shopping experiences and contributing to the success of our retail operations.

Key responsibilities

• Providing outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly, assisting with product enquiries, and addressing any concerns or complaints professionally
• Processing sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system and handling cash, card, and other payment methods securely
• Maintaining a clean, organised and visually appealing retail space, including restocking shelves, arranging displays, and ensuring proper merchandising standards
• Assisting with inventory management, including receiving stock, checking deliveries, and reporting stock discrepancies to management
• Promoting products and recommending items to customers based on their needs and preferences
• Supporting the implementation of store promotions, sales campaigns, and special offers
• Operating the cash register efficiently and accurately, reconciling the till at the end of shifts
• Maintaining awareness of current products, pricing, and promotional offers to provide accurate information to customers
• Assisting with visual merchandising and window displays to maximise product visibility and appeal
• Following company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations at all times

What we're looking for

• Previous retail or customer service experience, ideally in a retail outlet or similar environment
• Excellent customer service skills with a genuine passion for helping others and creating positive interactions
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capability to work effectively with diverse customer groups
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards of professionalism
• Basic numeracy skills and competence with point-of-sale systems or similar technology
• Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and public holidays as required by the business
• Physical capability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry stock, and perform other physical tasks associated with retail work
• Enthusiasm, energy, and a positive attitude towards work and customer interactions
• Willingness to learn about products and company procedures
• Integrity and honesty in handling cash and customer information
