Z Protection Services is seeking reliable, professional and experienced Retail Security Officers to join our growing team.

We are looking for proactive individuals who are confident in managing challenging situations, assisting retail staff and maintaining a safe and secure shopping environment.

Position Details

• Employment Type: Casual
• Pay Rate: Security Services Industry Award, Level 2 Casual rates
• Location: Melbourne, Victoria
• Shifts: 2pm till 6pm, Weekday and weekend shifts, depending on operational requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a visible and professional security presence at retail store entrances.
• Monitor customer activity and identify suspicious behaviour, theft risks and potential security threats.
• Assist store management and staff in dealing with aggressive, abusive, threatening or disruptive customers.
• Respond promptly to incidents, including theft, shoplifting, verbal aggression and other security concerns.
• Use appropriate de-escalation techniques and intervene when necessary, within legal authority and company procedures.
• Support store staff with loss prevention and incident management.
• Complete accurate incident reports and communicate security concerns to management.
• Follow site-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and client instructions.

Requirements

• Must be physically capable of standing for 4–5 hours at a time and performing duties that require prolonged standing.
• Hold a current Victorian Private Security Individual Licence with the appropriate activities.
• Previous retail security or loss prevention experience is highly desirable.
• Confident and capable of handling aggressive and challenging behaviour professionally.
• Strong communication, conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Professional personal presentation and a customer-focused attitude.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently.
• Willingness to work weekends and flexible shifts.
• Ability to complete incident reports and use basic mobile reporting applications.
• Valid working rights in Australia.
