Retail Store Assistant

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome customers and provide helpful, professional assistance throughout their shopping experience
• Understand customer needs and recommend suitable products or services
• Support sales efforts by promoting products, answering questions, and helping customers make informed purchasing decisions
• Process transactions accurately and responsibly where required
• Assist with receiving, unpacking, and organising incoming stock
• Keep the store clean, tidy, and visually appealing at all times
• Help set up promotional displays and in-store marketing materials
• Respond to customer concerns in a calm, courteous, and solution-focused manner
• Work closely with team members and supervisors to meet store targets and daily operational goals
• Follow company procedures for health, safety, security, and customer service

Requirements

• Must have Grade 12 (Matric Certificate)
• Previous experience in retail, customer service, sales, or a similar customer-facing role
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A friendly, professional, and approachable manner
• Ability to work well in a team and support shared goals
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods and assist with light stock handling
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to delivering consistent service
• Flexibility to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays if needed
