Retail Store Assistant

Job Summary

Phoenicia Specialty Foods is seeking a dependable, friendly, and customer-focused Retail Store Assistant to support daily store operations. The ideal candidate will help customers locate products, maintain organized shelves, assist with stocking and inventory, and ensure the store remains clean, orderly, and welcoming. This role requires good communication skills, attention to detail, teamwork, and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide friendly, helpful service throughout the store.
• Assist customers in locating products and answering general questions about merchandise.
• Stock shelves, arrange displays, and organize products according to store guidelines.
• Check product labels, pricing, expiration dates, and packaging for accuracy.
• Help receive deliveries, unpack merchandise, and move products to designated storage or display areas.
• Maintain clean and organized shelves, aisles, counters, and customer areas.
• Monitor product availability and notify supervisors when items need replenishment.
• Assist with inventory counts and report damaged, missing, or misplaced products.
• Support checkout operations when needed, including bagging purchases and assisting cashiers.
• Follow store policies, food safety guidelines, sanitation procedures, and workplace safety standards.
• Work collaboratively with coworkers and supervisors to complete daily tasks.
• Help maintain attractive product displays and a positive shopping experience.

Requirements and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous retail, grocery store, or customer service experience is an advantage but not always required.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn about store products, merchandising, and operating procedures.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move merchandise within reasonable workplace safety limits.
• Reliable attendance, punctuality, and a professional attitude.
• Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, or varying shifts as scheduled.

Work Environment

The position is based in a specialty food retail store. Daily duties may include assisting customers, stocking merchandise, organizing shelves, handling deliveries, and maintaining a clean shopping environment. Teamwork, customer satisfaction, and safe work practices are important parts of the role.
