About Lakeway Area Habitat for Humanity

At Lakeway Area Habitat for Humanity, we believe everyone deserves a safe, decent, and affordable place to call home. We work alongside volunteers, donors, and community partners to strengthen families and neighborhoods.

The ReStore is much more than a retail store—it is a funding source for our mission. Every donation accepted, every customer served, and every item sold helps build homes, complete critical repairs, and provide hope to families throughout our community.

If you want a job where your work makes a real difference every day, we'd love to meet you.

Position Summary

The ReStore Associate plays an essential role in providing excellent customer service while supporting daily retail operations. This position assists with receiving donations, merchandising, operating the cash register, loading and unloading merchandise, maintaining a clean and organized sales floor, and creating a welcoming environment for customers, donors, volunteers, and coworkers.

Success in this position requires someone who is dependable, adaptable, physically active, and willing to help wherever needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly, courteous customer service to every customer and donor.
  • Receive, inspect, and process donated merchandise.
  • Assist customers with purchases, loading, and general questions.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system accurately.
  • Stock shelves and merchandise the sales floor in an attractive, organized manner.
  • Keep the store, warehouse, and donation areas clean and safe.
  • Assist with moving furniture, appliances, cabinets, building materials, and other donated items.
  • Help maintain accurate inventory and pricing.
  • Work safely while following Habitat policies and procedures.
  • Support volunteers by providing guidance and assistance as needed.
  • Represent Habitat for Humanity professionally in every interaction.
  • Assist with donation pickups, special events, or community outreach activities when assigned.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the ReStore and Habitat's mission.

What We're Looking For

We can teach retail skills. We cannot teach attitude.

Our ideal team member:

  • Has a positive, flexible, and solution-oriented attitude.
  • Is willing to jump in and help wherever needed.
  • Treats every customer, donor, volunteer, and coworker with respect.
  • Enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Is dependable and arrives ready to work.
  • Is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities may change throughout the day.
  • Takes pride in keeping work areas clean, organized, and safe.
  • Understands that every task—big or small—helps support Habitat's mission.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Retail, warehouse, or customer service experience is helpful but not required.
  • Basic computer and cash handling skills preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, volunteers, and staff.
  • Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements

This is an active position that requires regular physical activity.

Employees should be able to:

  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and heavier items with assistance.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and climb ladders safely.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures.
  • Safely move furniture, appliances, and building materials.

Why Work at Habitat?

When you join Lakeway Area Habitat for Humanity, you become part of something bigger than a retail team. Your work directly supports affordable housing and critical home repairs for local families.

Our Expectations

We value employees who:

  • Bring a positive attitude to work every day.
  • Embrace change and remain flexible as daily priorities evolve.
  • Work hard, encourage others, and contribute to a team environment.
  • Treat everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Believe in Habitat for Humanity's mission and proudly represent our organization in the community.

A great attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn are just as important to us as previous experience.
