Our business is growing, and as such, we are seeking motivated individuals who are interested in working within fast-paced environments. Adaptability is a must, as hours of operation and daily tasks may fluctuate depending on the store’s needs.

Retail Associate job summary

Our store in Johnstown is looking for a Retail Associate who enjoys working with the public and is interested in growing within the sales and customer service industry. The Retail Associate will assist customers by providing product recommendations, learning and talking about cheese/jam/chutney pairings, answering questions on the company’s mission statement and locally sourced products, educating customers about product options, ingredients, and sourcing. The ideal candidate for this position has experience working in retail and a strong dedication to providing exceptional service for customers. They will also thrive in an environment of change and continuous growth and are comfortable working within a team as well as independently.

Retail Associate responsibilities and duties

• Greet and acknowledge every customer as they enter and exit the store and as they approach the front end while continuously providing prompt and courteous customer service.
• Maintain knowledge of various store departments and be available to operate cash register for regular transactions, perform shipping and receiving duties, stock the floor, and build visual displays when necessary.
• Assist the team in executing all daily retail operations to ensure premium service and smooth store functioning while performing general cleaning duties of the store to company standards. (i.e. sweeping, mopping, stocking, facing product, product inventory, etc.)
• Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures, as well as communicate store needs to team leaders when necessary.
• Knowledge of or an interest in learning about products and services offered by the company.
• Be an active member of the store community by attending, assisting with, and supporting store events.
• Model reliability and flexibility by being able to work varied hours and days to meet the needs of the business.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Gives attention to detail and follows instructions.
• Effective time management; maximizes productivity.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to stock merchandise from store receiving to shelving; ability to place product, weighing up to 45 pounds, on shelving at various heights.
• Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and walk about the store.

Retail Associate qualifications and skills

• Customer service experience preferred
• Ability to work well on a team
• Must be able to work weekends and holidays
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must have a positive attitude and the ability to interact well with customers and Associates.
