Position Summary

The Retail Store Associate plays an important role in the daily operation and success of New Arrival Convenience Stores in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. Store Associates are responsible for providing excellent customer service, operating cash registers, stocking merchandise, maintaining store cleanliness, and supporting foodservice and fuel operations.

We are looking for dependable, friendly, and hardworking individuals who take pride in delivering a positive customer experience and maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked store.

This is an hourly position that reports directly to the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager.

Key ResponsibilitiesCustomer Service

• Greet customers in a friendly, professional, and welcoming manner.
• Provide fast, accurate, and courteous checkout service.
• Assist customers with merchandise, promotions, and general store questions.
• Handle customer concerns professionally and notify management when additional assistance is needed.
• Help create a positive shopping experience that encourages repeat business.

Store Operations

• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) register and process cash, credit, debit, and other approved payment methods.
• Follow proper cash-handling procedures, including register accountability and cash drops.
• Stock shelves, coolers, displays, and other merchandise areas.
• Ensure products are properly priced, faced, rotated, and displayed.
• Assist with receiving vendor deliveries and stocking merchandise.
• Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked sales areas throughout each shift.
• Complete assigned opening, closing, and shift responsibilities.
• Assist with promotional displays, price changes, and merchandising programs.

Foodservice & Beverage Operations

• Prepare, package, and serve food and beverage products according to company standards.
• Maintain coffee, fountain beverage, roller grill, and other foodservice equipment.
• Monitor product freshness, quality, and availability throughout each shift.
• Follow proper food-handling, sanitation, temperature-control, and product-rotation procedures.
• Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Minimize food waste while ensuring foodservice areas remain stocked and ready for customers.

Store Cleanliness & Appearance

• Maintain clean and organized sales floors, counters, coolers, and merchandise displays.
• Clean and inspect restrooms regularly according to company standards.
• Sweep, mop, remove trash, and complete other routine cleaning duties.
• Maintain the fuel island, parking lot, entrances, and exterior areas.
• Immediately report spills, safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or equipment issues to management.
• Help ensure the store remains clean, safe, and customer-ready throughout every shift.

Compliance & Loss Prevention

• Follow all company policies, operating procedures, and safety standards.
• Verify identification and follow applicable laws when selling tobacco, alcohol, lottery, and other age-restricted products.
• Follow proper cash-handling, inventory-control, and loss-prevention procedures.
• Maintain compliance with applicable food-safety, workplace-safety, and environmental requirements.
• Report suspected theft, cash discrepancies, safety incidents, or other concerns to management.
• Complete required company training and certifications.

Teamwork & Accountability

• Work cooperatively with Store Managers, Assistant Store Managers, and fellow associates.
• Arrive on time, ready to work, and follow assigned schedules.
• Complete assigned tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Assist coworkers during busy periods to maintain fast customer service.
• Take initiative to identify tasks that need attention without waiting for direction.
• Maintain a positive, professional attitude and represent New Arrival Convenience Stores appropriately.

Qualifications

• Previous retail, convenience-store, customer-service, or foodservice experience preferred but not required.
• Must meet applicable minimum-age requirements for assigned duties.
• Strong customer-service and communication skills.
• Basic math skills and ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn POS systems, foodservice procedures, and company operating standards.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand or walk for extended periods.
• Ability to perform routine cleaning, stocking, and merchandising duties.
• Reliable transportation and consistent attendance required.
