What they need

We're building something bigger than a game store.

We're growing a small chain of buy-sell-trade video and card game stores into something bigger. A hub for gamers, events, and creative projects like our upcoming podcast studio and YouTube channel.

Our goal is simple: create the best place in our region to shop, play, and connect.

To get there, we need a Store Manager who takes complete ownership of their store.

First, Let's Talk About What This Job ISN'T.

This is not a job where you sit behind a counter, delegate a few tasks, and wait for customers to walk in.

This is not a job where your boss has to remind you about unfinished projects, chase you for updates, or discover problems you should have communicated days earlier.

And this is definitely not a job where being the manager means you get to work less than everyone else.

Our managers are expected to carry more responsibility, handle a greater workload, and hold themselves to a higher standard than the employees they lead.

If that sounds exhausting, this probably isn't the right position for you.

If that sounds like exactly the kind of challenge you've been looking for, keep reading.

What Ownership Looks Like at Kingdom Games

1. You lead from the front.

You don't just assign work. You work alongside your team.

If the bathroom needs cleaning, inventory needs processing, or shelves need organizing, you're willing to roll up your sleeves.

You set the pace and standard for everyone else.

2. You enforce standards, not suggestions.

We have daily checklists, standard operating procedures, and established systems for running our stores.

Your job is to make sure they're followed consistently, including when ownership isn't around.

You verify the work gets done, coach employees who fall short, and hold people accountable.

3. You solve problems once.

When the same problem keeps happening, you don't just keep putting out the same fire.

You identify the root cause, improve the process, train your team, and establish a system that prevents the problem from recurring.

We want problem solvers, not professional firefighters.

4. You don't need to be chased.

You take ownership of projects from beginning to end.

If you're assigned a deadline, you meet it. If one isn't provided, you establish one and communicate it.

If something goes wrong or you won't finish on time, you communicate proactively, before the deadline passes.

Your boss should never have to ask you three times whether something got done.

5. You take responsibility for your team.

When employees fall short, you don't simply blame them.

You ask whether expectations were clear, whether they received proper training, and whether they're in the right role.

You coach, develop, and hold people accountable with fairness and consistency.

Ultimately, the condition of your store and the performance of your team are your responsibility.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, train, coach, and hold the Lakeport team accountable
  • Ensure daily checklists, SOPs, and company policies are consistently followed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, well-merchandised store
  • Meet or exceed sales goals while protecting profitability
  • Hire, onboard, and develop employees
  • Create staff schedules and verify timesheets
  • Oversee inventory, ordering, and loss prevention
  • Plan and host gaming events that grow our community
  • Identify operational problems and develop lasting solutions
  • Complete projects independently and communicate progress proactively
  • Work alongside employees in daily store operations
  • Maintain high standards for customer service and product knowledge

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of leadership or management experience in retail, hospitality, or customer service
  • A proven ability to lead by example and hold people accountable
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to create, follow, and enforce systems and procedures
  • A track record of completing projects without constant supervision
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
  • The willingness to have difficult conversations when standards aren't being met
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and peak seasons

A passion for gaming, events, or community spaces is a plus.

But we'd rather hire an exceptional manager who doesn't know Pokémon than a Pokémon expert who can't manage a store.

Who Will Thrive Here?

Someone who sees a messy stockroom and organizes it without being asked.

Someone who notices the same mistake happening repeatedly and fixes the process that causes it.

Someone who takes pride in a well-run store, develops great employees, and doesn't need someone looking over their shoulder.

Someone who understands that leadership isn't a title. It's responsibility.

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to help shape a growing company and build something meaningful in the local gaming community.

For the right person, there is potential for profit sharing and long-term growth as Kingdom Games continues to expand.

As we like to say:

A rising tide raises all ships.

If you're looking for an easy management title, we're probably not the right fit.

If you want to take ownership, build a great team, and be held accountable for real results, we want to hear from you.
