Retail Supervisor

Job Summary

Duties

• Supervise daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and POS system management to ensure smooth transactions.
• Lead, motivate, and develop retail staff through employee orientation, training & development initiatives, and performance evaluations.
• Manage inventory control by overseeing stock levels, conducting stock counts, and coordinating purchasing and replenishment activities.
• Implement merchandising strategies to optimize product placement, pricing, and promotional displays that drive sales.
• Oversee scheduling, shift management, and payroll processing to ensure adequate staffing levels aligned with business needs.
• Conduct interviewing, recruiting, and onboarding of new team members to build a high-performing retail sales team.
• Maintain excellent customer service standards by addressing customer inquiries, resolving complaints promptly, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
• Utilize management skills to monitor sales performance, analyze retail math data, and develop action plans for continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and operational procedures across the store.
• Collaborate with suppliers and vendors during purchasing processes to negotiate prices and manage inventory procurement efficiently.

Qualifications

• Proven supervisory or assistant manager experience within the retail industry with a focus on sales team management.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate teams and foster a collaborative work environment.
• Excellent communication skills in multiple languages; bilingual abilities are highly valued.
• Demonstrated proficiency in POS systems, inventory management software, bookkeeping, payroll processing, and basic math skills.
• Experience in retail sales management including merchandising, pricing strategies, and operational oversight.
• Knowledge of grocery or retail store product knowledge is preferred but not required.
• Ability to handle cash transactions accurately while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and organizational skills.
• Previous experience in recruiting, interviewing candidates, training staff members, and supervising daily store operations is essential.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
