Retail Trainer

What you'll be doing

• Developing and delivering comprehensive training programmes for retail staff across all levels, covering customer service, product knowledge, sales techniques, and operational procedures
• Assessing training needs and identifying skill gaps within the retail team to inform the design of targeted learning initiatives
• Creating engaging training materials, including manuals, presentations, videos, and practical demonstrations
• Conducting onboarding and induction training for new employees to ensure they are well-prepared for their roles
• Providing ongoing coaching and mentoring to retail staff to support continuous improvement and professional development
• Evaluating the effectiveness of training programmes and making recommendations for enhancements
• Maintaining accurate training records and reporting on training activities and outcomes
• Collaborating with store management and department heads to align training initiatives with business objectives
• Staying current with retail industry best practices and incorporating them into training content
• Supporting the implementation of new policies, procedures, and systems through targeted training

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Retail Trainer, training specialist, or similar role within the retail or consumer products sector
• Strong knowledge of retail operations, customer service standards, and retail sales principles
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective training programmes that drive measurable results
• Experience in adult learning principles and instructional design
• Proficiency with training delivery methods, including classroom-based, hands-on, and digital learning approaches
• Strong organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple training initiatives simultaneously
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships across all levels of the organisation
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and learning management systems (LMS) or training software
• A patient, adaptable approach to training with a genuine commitment to employee development
• Tertiary qualification in training, human resources, business, or a related field is preferred
• Experience working in a fast-paced retail environment is advantageous
