Our Purpose

Teradyne's semiconductor test solutions bring the technology of tomorrow to market faster and with higher quality. We are transforming the way the industry tests advanced semiconductor devices for automotive, industrial, communications, consumer, computing, and edge AI applications.

At Teradyne, you will be part of a dynamic engineering organization developing the next generation of Automated Test Equipment (ATE) platforms and instrumentation. Our engineers combine deep technical expertise with strong business acumen to deliver innovative solutions that enable our customers' success.

Opportunity Overview

The RF Systems Engineering position is a highly visible senior technical role responsible for defining the direction of RF instrumentation across Teradyne’s ATE platforms. This role owns the instrument and platform-level architecture choices that shape how our RF product lines evolve, translating emerging semiconductor technologies, wireless standards, customer applications, and market needs into differentiated RF test capabilities and executable product strategies.

The ideal candidate combines deep RF and measurement expertise with strong systems-level judgment and works through influence by driving architecture choices, defining system requirements, and negotiating technical trade-offs across hardware, software, firmware, calibration, test methodology, and applications. The role requires balancing performance, technical feasibility, cost, schedule, scalability, and business objectives while ensuring alignment with long-term RF product and platform strategies.

As the RF Systems Engineer, you will serve as a technical product champion throughout the product lifecycle, working closely with Marketing, Applications, Design Engineering, Program Management, and customers to turn evolving test challenges into innovative product concepts and development plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define RF instrumentation requirements, system architectures, and technology roadmaps for next-generation semiconductor test solutions.
  • Translate evolving customer needs, RF technologies, wireless standards, and market trends into differentiated product capabilities and development priorities.
  • Guide RF concept development and architecture choices, balancing features, performance, throughput, cost, and time-to-market.
  • Develop and maintain system requirements, use cases, performance budgets, interfaces, and architecture documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Drive alignment across cross-functional teams to achieve balanced solutions that meet product, customer, and business objectives.
  • Provide system-level technical direction through design, integration, characterization, validation, and product release.
  • Engage with customers, field teams, and industry forums to identify emerging RF test challenges and future technology needs.
  • Serve as the RF technical champion and subject matter expert, influencing product direction and long-term platform strategy.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of engineering experience with demonstrated success in systems engineering, product definition, architecture development, or senior technical roles.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor test systems, instrumentation, electronics, or related complex system-level products.
  • Proven experience defining product requirements and system architectures, with the ability to evaluate emerging technologies and translate industry trends into architectural choices and product roadmaps.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex cross-functional initiatives and influence choices without direct authority.
  • Strong communication and mentoring skills, with the ability to engage customers, engineering teams, and senior management on complex technical problems.
  • Experience evaluating technical and business trade-offs across performance, cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Semiconductor industry experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%.

Education

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • Candidates with an M.S. degree and significant industry experience in systems engineering, product architecture, product definition, or senior technical roles may also be considered.
  • Demonstrated expertise in complex system design, architecture development, and cross-functional technical guidance is highly desirable.

We are only considering candidates local to position location and are unable to provide relocation for this position.
