What they need

Position Description

CISA’s RFID asset tracking initiative needs hands‑on technical support to bring the system to life. As an RFID Implementation Consultant, you’ll set up the technology on site—configuring hardware, connecting it to network and power infrastructure, and ensuring reliable performance in real facility environments. If you enjoy solving practical technical challenges and want to support a mission‑critical federal cybersecurity program, this role puts you at the center of deployment.

This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office; however a hybrid working model is acceptable. You will be required to be in our Fairfax, VA office a minimum of two days per week.

Your future duties and responsibilities

  • Configure, install, and test RFID hardware (readers, antennas, tags) and related software at CISA facilities.
  • Establish and troubleshoot LAN connections to integrate hardware with backend systems.
  • Connect and wire equipment safely to power sources.
  • Perform on‑site testing and calibration to ensure accurate reads and reliable coverage.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, connectivity, and configuration issues.
  • Document installation details, network setups, and site‑specific notes.
  • Coordinate installation schedules with the Project Manager and facility/IT staff.
  • Support integration with asset management platforms such as Sunflower.
  • Provide on‑site or remote technical support during rollout and stabilization.

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

  • Due to the nature of the government contract requirements and/or clearance requirements, US citizenship is required as well as successful passing of CGI background check prior to beginning work. In addition, candidates must have ability to obtain and maintain a DHS/CISA EOD/Public Trust clearance.
  • Minimum of two years of hands‑on experience installing and testing hardware with on‑site software components; RFID experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with physical network (LAN) connections or the ability to learn quickly.
  • Experience working with electrical components or the ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple sites.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, network, and configuration issues.
  • Familiarity with the Sunflower Asset Management System preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance or suitability determination.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent hands‑on experience preferred.
