Introduction:

GlobalFoundries is seeking a motivated, self-driven engineer to join the RFSOI MOSFET Compact Modeling team in Bangalore. The team is responsible for developing industry-leading compact (SPICE) models for bulk and SOI MOSFET technologies that form a critical component of Process Design Kits (PDKs) used by customers worldwide to design RF semiconductor products and systems. This role offers an opportunity to work at the intersection of semiconductor device physics, modeling, characterization, and advanced RF technology development. The successful candidate will contribute to compact model extraction, validation, and enhancement for cutting-edge RFSOI technologies while collaborating with cross-functional global teams.

Your Job

  • Develop, extract, calibrate, and validate compact SPICE models for bulk and SOI MOSFET technologies.
  • Support development and maintenance of Process Design Kit (PDK) compact models for customer design enablement.
  • Perform analysis and interpretation of semiconductor device characterization data.
  • Develop and optimize compact model extraction methodologies and workflows.
  • Collaborate with process integration, device engineering, characterization, and design enablement teams.
  • Analyze model accuracy, performance, and correlation against silicon measurement data.
  • Contribute to RF MOSFET modeling activities, including high-frequency characterization and model validation.
  • Support generation of technical documentation and model release collateral.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and resolution of model-related customer and internal issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in compact modeling methodologies, automation, and tool flows.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics with emphasis on MOSFET operation and modeling.
  • Knowledge of bulk MOSFET and SOI MOSFET technologies.
  • Understanding of Partial Depleted (PD), Fully Depleted (FD), and Dynamic Depleted SOI device concepts.
  • Familiarity with compact model extraction methodologies and characterization techniques.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor test structures used for compact model extraction.
  • Experience with data analysis and model validation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.

Other Responsibilities

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety, Security, and Quality requirements and programs.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and engineering standards.
  • Support knowledge sharing and technical mentoring activities within the team as applicable.
  • Participate in continuous learning and technology development initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor Physics, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum +4 years of relevant experience in semiconductor device modeling, characterization, or related research activities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in MOSFET device physics, design, or compact modeling.
  • English language proficiency, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work from the Bangalore office a minimum of three days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of BSIM family compact models.
  • Experience with SOI technologies, including PD-SOI, FD-SOI, and Dynamic Depleted SOI.
  • Hands-on experience in semiconductor process development.
  • Experience with electrical measurements and device characterization.
  • Knowledge of RF characterization and modeling of MOSFET devices.
  • Programming experience with Python.
  • Experience using Keysight IC-CAP (ICCAP) or similar compact model extraction tools.
  • Familiarity with RF semiconductor technologies and applications.
