Rigger

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Rigger to join our team. The Rigger will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement, lifting, and positioning of heavy loads and equipment onboard the vessel using various rigging techniques and equipment. This role requires meticulous planning, precise execution, and strict adherence to all safety protocols and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in industrial or construction environments, a strong understanding of load dynamics, and excellent communication skills to coordinate with crane operators and team members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute complex lifting and moving operations, including selecting appropriate rigging gear (slings, shackles, hooks, spreaders, etc.) based on load weight, size, shape, and environmental conditions.
• Inspect all rigging equipment for defects, wear, and tear before and after each use, ensuring compliance with safety standards and reporting any deficiencies immediately.
• Attach and detach loads safely and securely to lifting equipment, ensuring proper balance, stability, and securement throughout the lifting process.
• Direct crane operators and other heavy equipment operators during lifting, lowering, and positioning operations using standardized hand signals, radio communication, and other established communication methods.
• Accurately calculate load weights, determine the center of gravity, and assess potential hazards associated with each lift.
• Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
• Participate actively in pre-lift meetings, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses to identify and mitigate potential risks.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on rigging equipment as needed.
• Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other trades to ensure project timelines and objectives are met efficiently and safely.
• Operate various types of rigging equipment, including chain hoists, come-alongs, winches, and specialized lifting devices.
