What they need
OUR MISSION
RISC exists to transform scientific research into practical intelligence that helps create healthier, more resilient, and regenerative communities. Every role contributes to generating, applying, scaling, and validating knowledge that improves the planning, design, operation, and long-term performance of the built environment.
About the Role
Bring built-environment intelligence to RISC and MQDC — ensuring projects are climate-adaptive, resilient, nature-positive, and certifiable, and building the digital-twin, sensor, and monitoring backbone that measures and continuously improves performance across the building lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Review project drawings and designs, and advise teams on climate adaptation, resilience, nature-positive and biodiversity-integrated design.
Apply and pursue green-building and well-being certifications — LEED, WELL, TREES, RESET — as one part of a broader performance remit.
Lead sensor strategy, environmental monitoring, and predictive monitoring in living labs; develop digital twins and building-lifecycle performance models.
Validate AI-assisted design reviews and develop rule libraries for AI agents.
Improve AI recommendations through expert feedback (human-in-the-loop).
Collaborate with MQDC business units to translate research into measurable project outcomes.
Translate monitoring and model outputs into performance evidence for certification, research, and external services.
Qualifications
- Degree in architecture, engineering, or a built-environment discipline.
- Accreditation in one or more of LEED, WELL, TREES (RESET a plus); experience reviewing drawings and documentation.
- Experience with resilience / climate-adaptation or nature-positive design; familiarity with biodiversity integration.
- Experience with environmental monitoring, sensor strategy, digital twins, or building-performance analytics; English for international standards.
Preferred / Advantageous
- Prior work on certified sustainable / well-being developments.
- Familiarity with IoT sensor networks, predictive monitoring, or performance dashboards.
What we expect in the First 12-Months
- A performance, certification, and resilience framework applied to at least one live project.
- A sensor / monitoring or digital-twin capability operational and producing usable evidence.
- A validated AI-assisted review workflow, with expert feedback improving recommendations.
- A contribution to at least one external service engagement.
Mindset & Fit
Every role contributes to shared assets and MQDC projects. No one works in isolation. Built-environment intelligence, not certification alone — standards-fluent, systems- and data-minded, and comfortable between research rigor and practical project execution.
