What they need

Lawfront is one of the UK’s most ambitious and rapidly expanding Legal Groups. Through strategic acquisition and the integration of high‑performing regional law firms, we are building a national platform that combines local excellence with the strength, investment, and innovation of a modern Legal organisation.

Our growth trajectory is significant — and accelerating. As we continue to welcome new firms into the Lawfront family, we are strengthening our central functions to ensure we deliver consistent, scalable, and best‑in‑class support across the Group.

The Professional Standards team provides risk, compliance and regulatory support across the Lawfront Group. In this role, you will work with colleagues across the Group to identify, assess and monitor risks; support the design and operation of proportionate controls; and help ensure that relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies are understood and followed. You will provide practical, timely advice, maintain clear records, report issues and escalate significant concerns to the appropriate senior colleagues. Through collaborative, fair and solution-focused support, you will contribute to high standards of integrity, client service and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

  • Handle or coordinate complaints and claims in line with agreed procedures, including timely triage, fact-finding, record-keeping, stakeholder communication, appropriate escalation and follow-up
  • Respond to compliance incidents and potential breaches by recording concerns, supporting proportionate fact-finding and root-cause analysis, coordinating corrective action, and promptly escalating significant issues or time-sensitive obligations under internal procedures.
  • Support or coordinate internal and external compliance investigations, audits and reviews, including gathering evidence, maintaining records, communicating with relevant stakeholders and tracking agreed actions.
  • Identify, assess, document and monitor compliance and operational risks across the Group, maintaining clear risk records and escalating material or emerging risks.
  • Support the development and implementation of proportionate risk-mitigation strategies and controls.
  • Monitor the operation and effectiveness of risk-management and compliance controls; analyse information, identify gaps or trends, and prepare concise updates and reports for relevant stakeholders.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing operation of the Lawfront Group compliance programme, monitoring delivery, maintaining evidence and raising gaps or overdue actions.
  • Help develop, review and maintain policies, procedures and controls, consulting relevant colleagues and translating requirements into clear, workable guidance.
  • Monitor relevant regulatory and legal-sector developments, assess their potential impact with the Professional Standards team, and share clear, timely updates with affected colleagues.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training and briefings for colleagues at all levels, adapting the content to the audience and supporting practical application of requirements.
  • Build constructive relationships across the Group and promote integrity, openness and ethical conduct, encouraging colleagues to raise concerns and seek advice early.

Experience, qualifications and skills

Minimum three years’ experience in risk and compliance, ideally within a law firm or an in-house legal team, would be valuable. Alternatively, this role may suit a qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive looking to move into compliance, who can demonstrate a strong interest in risk and compliance and relevant transferable skills.

Skills and knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and compliance good practice in the legal services sector.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgement and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain requirements and advice clearly to different audiences.
  • Excellent organisation and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise a varied workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate across different firms, departments and levels of seniority.
  • Good IT skills, including confident use of Microsoft Office applications and digital records.

Personal attributes

Change agility and influence: Communicates change clearly, engages colleagues constructively and helps translate new requirements into consistent practice.

Adaptability and initiative: Takes a proactive, practical approach, responds calmly to changing priorities and uses sound judgement when issues arise.

Self-awareness and resilience: Understands the impact of their approach, remains composed under pressure, is open to feedback and provides colleagues with clear, dependable support.

Emotional intelligence: Listens carefully, treats people with respect and adapts communication to the needs of colleagues and the situation.

Continuous improvement: Looks for practical ways to improve controls, processes and service; shares ideas and supports others to adopt effective improvements.

Trust and psychological safety: Acts fairly and discreetly, invites questions and concerns, and helps create an environment where people can speak up and seek support without blame.
