Risk Management Clinical Coordinator
Full-Time | Day Shift | $120,000–$150,000 DOE
Jamaica Hospital Medical Center
Some of the most important patient-safety work happens after a clinical event, when someone has to determine not just what happened, but why it happened and how to prevent it from happening again.
Jamaica Hospital Medical Center is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Risk Management team as a Risk Management Clinical Coordinator.
This is an opportunity for an RN with strong acute-care clinical judgment to apply that experience beyond the bedside. You will investigate clinical events, identify patient-safety and organizational risks, participate in Root Cause Analyses, and work with clinical and hospital leadership to develop solutions that help prevent future events.
What You Will Do
- Investigate clinical and patient-safety events
- Participate in and support Root Cause Analyses (RCA)
- Review medical records and prepare comprehensive event summaries
- Identify clinical, process, and system-level risks
- Prepare reports for regulatory agencies
- Recommend strategies to reduce clinical and operational risk
- Partner with physicians, nursing leadership, and multidisciplinary teams on patient-safety initiatives
- Support policy development and continuous quality improvement
Who We Are Looking For
We are particularly interested in RNs with experience in ICU, Emergency Department, Step-Down/Telemetry, PACU, Labor & Delivery, NICU, or other high-acuity inpatient or procedural environments.
Previous Risk Management experience is preferred, but we will also consider motivated acute-care RNs interested in transitioning their clinical expertise into Risk Management. Training is available.
Requirements
- BSN required
- 3–5 years of acute hospital RN experience, preferably in critical care, emergency nursing, or another high-acuity environment
- Strong clinical judgment, medical-record review, analytical, and communication skills
- Experience with incident investigation, RCA, patient safety, quality, or Risk Management preferred
- Master's degree preferred
- CPHRM preferred
