Profile Summary:

The Risk Management Department at Mizuho International is responsible for delivering an independent assessment of the risks taken across all the trading and origination activities of the Company, and the revenue generated in relation to these risks. It is also responsible for implementing a risk management framework consistent with the Company’s risk appetite and capacity of resources, in agreement with the Company’s Board and Mizuho Securities. The department is led by the Chief Risk Officer and is made up of the following teams:

• Market Risk Management
• Credit Risk Management
• Operational Risk Management
• Regulatory & Liquidity Risk Management
• Model Risk Management
• Risk Analytics
• Risk Reporting

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement new reporting requirements
• Work with the Team Lead to implement new risk application functionality
• Work with the Team Lead to migrate legacy Excel and Access tools to C#. SQL, PowerBI and Python based solutions
• Ensure the daily production reporting process runs successfully
• Support the Team Lead to maintain existing application framework
• Assist with testing the application Framework for impact of upstream changes
• Maintain documentation
• Liaise with Strategic IT and Support departments to resolve issues
• Use SQL, Python, and analytics tools to identify and resolve market risk data quality issues across VaR, SVaR, FRTB, stress testing, and regulatory reporting.
• Develop automated controls, dashboards, and AI-enabled solutions to detect data anomalies, reporting exceptions, and reconciliation breaks.
• Partner with Market Risk Managers to communicate risk reporting issues, root causes, and remediation plans, ensuring timely resolution.
• Lead investigations into risk calculation, data, and reporting discrepancies, coordinating across Risk, Front Office, Technology, and Quantitative teams to drive resolution.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

Essential:

• Knowledge of SQL
• Knowledge of PowerBI
• Knowledge of C#
• Demonstrates capability, potential and willingness to learn
• Genuine interest in technology, engineering and problem solving with the drive and curiosity to continually develop new skills
• Receptive to feedback with a willingness to learn from colleagues, challenge their own assumptions and adapt their approach
• Demonstrates initiative and ownership, actively seeking solutions and opportunities to learn
• Honest and accountable, including being comfortable acknowledging mistakes and raising issues early
• Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to approach unfamiliar problems logically
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and appropriately

Desirable:

• Practical exposure to software development, scripting, data or automation. Can be from professional experience, personal projects, self-learning or formal education.
• Experience with PowerShell, Python
• Experience with PowerBi, SSRS
• Experience of Excel and VBA
• Experience with version control
• Experience within financial services, risk or another controlled environment
• Experience working with data pipelines, automation or large datasets
• Experience with AI tools within a development environment
