River Structural Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a River Structural Engineer to join CTI Pilipinas, Incorporated in a full-time capacity based in Pasay City, Metro Manila. This is a strategic position within our civil and structural engineering division, where you will play a crucial role in designing, analysing and overseeing the structural integrity of river infrastructure projects. The River Structural Engineer will be instrumental in ensuring that our hydraulic and riverside structures meet rigorous safety standards, environmental regulations and project specifications. You will work on diverse projects ranging from bridge structures and embankments to water control facilities, directly contributing to the development of critical infrastructure in the Philippines.

Key responsibilities

• Design and analyse structural systems for river-related infrastructure projects, including bridges, dams, weirs, embankments and levees
• Conduct hydraulic and hydrological assessments to determine structural loads, flood impacts and water flow dynamics affecting bridge and riverside structures
• Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications and construction documents using industry-standard software and engineering best practices
• Perform structural calculations and finite element analysis to ensure designs meet safety factors and design codes applicable in the Philippines
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hydraulic engineers, geotechnical engineers and environmental specialists to deliver integrated solutions
• Oversee site inspections and construction supervision to ensure structural works comply with approved designs and quality standards
• Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies and design justifications for project stakeholders and regulatory authorities
• Stay updated with relevant Philippine building codes, engineering standards and industry best practices for river structures
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and support project teams in problem-solving and design optimisation

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline from a recognised university
• Professional Engineer (PE) licence or registration with the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) is essential
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in structural engineering, with at least 3 years specifically focused on river, hydraulic or bridge structures
• Proven expertise in structural design and analysis of bridge structures, embankments, water retaining structures or similar riverside infrastructure
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic and hydrological principles as they relate to structural design and performance
• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro, SAP2000, ETABS or equivalent programmes
• Competency in using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, particularly AutoCAD
• Thorough understanding of relevant Philippine building codes, design standards and environmental regulations for water resources projects
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and technical communication skills
• Experience with project management, cost estimation and construction supervision is highly valued
• Knowledge of sustainability principles and environmentally responsible engineering practices is advantageous
