About the role

Security Officer/Security Guard position responsible for maintaining security and safety of premises through visible presence, monitoring, and threat prevention.

Key responsibilities

• Make presence visible by reporting to duty post properly kitted and patrolling work area to serve as deterrent to criminals
• Monitor exterior and interior of premises to ensure absence of intruders or criminals
• Keep daily record of activities within premises, especially activities that pose security threat
• Welcome visitors and guard entrance, screening visitors to ensure they do not enter with prohibited items or weapons
• Prevent visitors from straying into prohibited areas
• Check facilities to ensure security and verify windows, doors, and gates are properly locked after work hours
• Receive telephone calls on behalf of employer and take down information after work hours
• Respond to security alarms and distress calls, and inform police of serious security threats
• Call nearest fire service department in case of fire outbreak
• Assist police in investigating cases of theft, rule violations, and infractions within premises
