Location: Elmhurst, IL

Contract Length: 6 to 13 Weeks

Shift: Days, 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) for a 13-week contract at a multispecialty surgery center in Elmhurst, IL.

The RN will provide high-quality postoperative care to patients recovering from anesthesia, managing both Phase I and Phase II recovery in the same bay. The facility performs a variety of procedures, including cataract, GI, pain management, sports medicine, hand surgery, and podiatry.

Responsibilities

* Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia and surgery in Phase I and Phase II recovery.

* Assess vital signs, pain levels, consciousness, and overall patient condition.

* Recognize and respond promptly to postoperative complications.

* Administer medications and provide appropriate nursing interventions.

* Educate patients and families on recovery instructions and discharge requirements.

* Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and the multidisciplinary care team.

* Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow patient safety protocols.

Requirements

* Minimum 2 years of PACU experience, including Phase I and Phase II recovery.

* Valid Illinois RN license.

* Current BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications.

* PALS certification preferred.

* Strong assessment, critical-thinking, and postoperative patient-care skills.

* Ability to care for patients across a wide age range, from infants to older adults.
