RN Stepdown

Overview

As an RN Stepdown, you’ll provide attentive nursing care to patients who need close monitoring as they transition from intensive care to a lower level of care. You’ll assess changing conditions, coordinate treatment, and help patients and families understand the care plan. Your impact: Timely assessment and clear communication help the care team respond to patient needs and support safer transitions.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients, monitor vital signs and telemetry, and report changes promptly.
• Administer medications and intravenous (IV) infusions; provide catheter care and other bedside nursing interventions.
• Coordinate with physicians and the care team on treatment, diagnostic evaluation, pain management, and discharge planning.
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in electronic health records (EHR) while following Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy requirements.
• Apply infection-control practices and respond to urgent changes in patient condition.

Qualifications

• Active registered nurse (RN) license required; basic life support (BLS) certification required or obtained as applicable to the role.
• Acute care or hospital experience preferred; stepdown, telemetry, or intensive care unit (ICU) experience is especially relevant.
• Demonstrated patient assessment, medication administration, IV insertion, and medical documentation skills.
• Comfortable using EHR systems, including Epic or Cerner; familiarity with medical terminology and physiology is helpful.
• Additional experience in emergency medicine, cardiac catheterization, dialysis, geriatrics, or post-acute care is welcome but not required.

Pay: $2,400.00 - $2,500.00 per week
