Road Driver

Position Overview: Responsible for transporting trailers between Service Centers and turn-point locations using tractor-trailer combinations.

Key Duties

• Operate tractor-trailer vehicles, including doubles and triples where applicable.
• Perform daily safety and pre-trip inspections on equipment.
• Hook and unhook trailers and converter dollies, ensuring proper documentation.
• Maintain accurate logs and comply with hazardous material regulations.
• Follow dispatch instructions, communicate delays or issues, and perform necessary tire chaining.
• Load and unload freight as needed, adhering to all laws and company policies.
• May perform duties of city driver or dock employee when operationally necessary.

Qualifications & Skills

• Class A CDL with double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements; automatic transmission allowed.
• At least 1 year of recent driving experience or completion of a driver development course.
• Valid Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and compliance with DOT regulations.
• Ability to handle trailers requiring significant physical effort, and sit for extended periods.
• Strong communication skills, initiative, and ability to work independently or in teams.

Working Conditions: Drive long distances in various weather conditions, with exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes, and DOT-regulated hazardous materials. Overnight stays may be required. Endorsement for hazardous materials must be obtained within 120 days.
