Road Maintenance Worker

Job Summary

Duties

• Operate heavy machinery including dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, front loader trucks, and dump trucks to perform road repairs, grading, paving, and construction activities.
• Conduct roadway construction projects by preparing sites, laying asphalt, and installing signage or barriers.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment such as power tools, welding equipment, and mechanical systems to ensure optimal operation.
• Implement traffic control measures for work zones to ensure safety for workers and the public while adhering to FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations.
• Engage in manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting, material loading/unloading, and use of hand tools for repairs or construction.
• Maintain safety protocols at all times by wearing appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), following safety procedures, and conducting site inspections.
• Collaborate with team members on roadway projects, ensuring timely completion while adhering to project specifications and safety standards.

Experience

• Experience operating heavy construction equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and front loader trucks in roadway or civil infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated knowledge of road construction techniques including paving, grading, and highway maintenance.
• Familiarity with heavy equipment maintenance and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Prior experience working outdoors in various weather conditions on construction sites or roadway projects.
• Understanding of traffic control practices for work zones and compliance with safety regulations including FMCSA standards.
• Experience handling power tools and performing welding tasks is preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong physical stamina with the ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks regularly.
• Skills listed are preferred, but not required. Pay is based on experience.
