Material in Motion is looking for a Robotics Engineer to be part of the R&D technical team with responsibility for developing new assembly methods using advanced technology and processes.

The Robotics Engineer will build tooling, develop and run trial line setups and provide assistance as required. The Robotics Engineer will collect data on these activities, and be part of the evaluation of the process, and work with documentation to develop the work instructions.

Primary Job Functions and Responsibilities:

• Development of product designs for new and existing equipment.
• Integrate new technologies into existing systems.
• Develop Bill of Materials for applications.
• Develop documentation and schematics as required for timely completion of projects.
• Review drawings of other Electrical Engineers and Designers.
• Create product functional specifications, equipment manuals and training manuals.
• Design/engineer pneumatic systems to meet application requirements.
• Prepare equipment integration proposals and budget.
• Continuous improvement ideas to make the company more efficient.
• Integrate collaborative robots to assembly lines.
• Develop robotic path motions to maximize efficiency, safety and quality.
• Develop, test and implement software for various systems and equipment
• Provide support for equipment set up and debugging of equipment.
• Identify, understand and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
• Train users to use and maintain systems.
• Perform preventive or corrective maintenance on robotic systems and components.
• Build and set-up development lines to run experiments, collect the data, and report out on issues.
• Set up data dependent alerts.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications Education/Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or relevant field.
• Minimum of two years as a Robotics Engineer with successful experience in the development and implementation of automation, robotic simulation, electrical design, programming, schematics, control system integration, repair and analysis of electrical applications of automated machinery.
• Experience with Python software development
• Experience with Linux operating systems and Bash scripting
• Hands on mechanical experience building assembly lines, and fixtures
• Experience working with server or network hardware
• Experience working in a fast paced environment
• AC & DC motor drives
• Automation components
• Servo Motion Control
• Vision Systems
• Pneumatics
• History of solving technical problems, solo and in a team
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Can analyze process data, and work with both engineering, and production to pinpoint bottlenecks, and process improvements
• Advanced analytical and mathematical skills.
• Proficient with computer design software including AutoCAD.
• Experience with project management.
• Ability to translate design concepts into physical objects
• Ability to interface with employees at all levels in the organization
• Experience using spreadsheets to analyze data, and solve issues is desired
• Tooling Experience

Plusses:

• Experience with contract manufacturing in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
• Previous Manufacturing Experience
• 7S knowledge/training a plus
• Knowledge of Lean Principles a plus
• Data science knowledge/interest
• Experience in Node-Red, Raspberry PIs, MODBUS communication, APIs, Google workspace, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $85,000.00 per year
