Join Our Robotics Engineering Team
Jam Works Automation is hiring a Robotics Engineer II to design, program, integrate, and commission robotic systems for custom automated manufacturing equipment.
This exempt role reports to the Senior Controls Engineer. You’ll own the robotics portion of assigned projects, working independently from simulation and programming through testing and customer-site start-up.
Why Join Jam Works Automation?
- Take ownership of robotics work on custom automation projects.
- Combine engineering design with hands-on integration and troubleshooting.
- Build deeper robotics expertise and mentor less-experienced engineers.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, debug, and maintain robot programs and simulations using FANUC RoboGuide or similar tools.
- Integrate robots with tooling, sensors, vision systems, safety devices, PLCs, HMIs, and industrial networks.
- Troubleshoot robotics, electrical, controls, and communication issues; support PLC/HMI programming within your capabilities.
- Lead assigned robotics activities during factory and site acceptance testing, installation, and commissioning.
- Coordinate with engineering, project management, manufacturing, and customers to complete assigned project work.
- Maintain programs, backups, and project documentation; provide technical input for proposals and estimates.
- Mentor less-experienced team members and travel to customer sites for commissioning, training, and technical support.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant education and experience may be considered.
- Typically 3–5 years of relevant experience in robotics, industrial automation, controls, or machine integration.
- Proficiency in industrial robot programming, integration, troubleshooting, simulation, and offline programming; FANUC experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of robotic tooling, sensors, vision systems, and safety devices.
- Working knowledge of PLC/HMI programming, electrical controls, and robot-to-PLC integration; Rockwell/Allen-Bradley or AutomationDirect experience preferred.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings, solve technical problems, and manage assigned work independently.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Work in office, manufacturing, assembly, and customer-site environments around automated equipment.
- Use hand and power tools and frequently reach, bend, kneel, or crouch.
- Lift or move up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, with assistance as appropriate.
- Follow safety procedures and wear required PPE; occasional exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations.
- Travel as required. Schedules may vary based on project and customer needs.
