Overview

My client is a well-funded, early-stage tech startup building autonomous ground robots for hazardous environments. They are seeking a driven Robotics Software Engineer to own the platform's full software stack.

The role

You will work closely with users and hardware owners across the full software stack:

• Own system architecture from sensor integration to network optimization.
• Design, prototype, and refine critical features like teleoperation, SLAM, and navigation.
• Test heavily in lab and simulated environments to ensure field reliability.
• Optimize video streaming for low-bandwidth communication networks.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to debug and integrate complex systems.

The essential requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an engineering discipline.
• 1-3+ years of hardware-focused software development.
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or C/C++.
• Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and Linux.
• Familiarity with ROS 1/2, communication protocols (CAN/USB), and frontend basics.

• 5+ years of software experience, ideally with robotic systems.
• Deep expertise in ROS 1/2, SLAM, and computer vision.
• Experience implementing real-time software, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
