Roku Developer

Senior Roku Developer — Contract | Remote (UK/EU) | €300–500 per day | Outside IR35 | 6 months+

We're speaking to senior Roku developers for contract work with streaming platforms, broadcasters and CTV businesses across the UK and Europe. These are teams shipping to real living rooms at real scale, where playback quality is a commercial metric rather than a ticket in the backlog.

The work usually looks like:

• BrightScript and SceneGraph, building channels and features end to end
• The Video node and playback stack — HLS and DASH, adaptive bitrate, Widevine and PlayReady DRM, ad-supported playback through RAF
• Startup time, rebuffering and bitrate ladders — measuring them and then actually moving them, on hardware with a fraction of the memory you're used to
• Channel store submission and certification, sideloaded builds, beta channels and staged rollouts
• Working alongside tvOS, Android TV and web teams to keep one experience across five platforms

You'll fit if you have:

• Strong commercial BrightScript and SceneGraph, with at least one channel shipped and live in the Roku Channel Store
• Hands-on video playback experience, not just UI work over someone else's player
• Comfort operating independently in a small team on a short runway
