Roll Grind Technician

Job Overview

JW Aluminum is a leading producer of specialty flat rolled aluminum products used in a wide variety of consumer and commercial applications. Currently, we have an immediate and exciting need for a Roll Grind Maintenance Technician at our facility located in Goose Creek, SC. We are looking for a team-oriented professional with an established background in maintenance in a manufacturing environment who has an exemplary track record of success for us to lead safety, the market, quality, and service through developing our people, improving our processes, and delivering value to the marketplace.

Responsibilities

• · Set up Roll Grinding Machines and grind rolls to specific tolerances regarding taper, diameter, crown, and finish, set forth by production specifications.

· Maintain equipment in the Roll Grind shop, including PM’s, any general maintenance requirements, and repairs on equipment.

· Transport rolls to and from Bearing Shop as required; stage, load, and transport rolls to and from Production roll racks at Mills as required for Roll Changes.

· Maintain good housekeeping in the Roll Grind shop, emptying hoppers, trash, filter changes, coolant changes, keeping floors clean and free of oil, etc.

Requirements

• · High School diploma or GED equivalent with 1-3 years of mechanically based technical experience in Industrial Manufacturing.

· Practical experience in using measuring instruments: inside/outside micrometers, equip hardness tester, roughness measurement, working to 4 decimal places using micrometers, pro-mic, and straddle mics.

· Read and interpret drawings regarding roll dimensions and specifications.

· Safely operate overhead cranes, mobile equipment to move rolls throughout the plant, and load/unload grinders.

· Able to work 12-hour rotating shift plus overtime as needed.

· Experience using Microsoft Windows applications, including Access databases and excel.

· Some heavy lifting is required, up to 50 pounds.

Preferred

· Machinist experience is highly desirable.

· Practical experience in the mechanical field.

· Ability to multi-task to keep Grinders running Efficiently and Safely

Pay: $35.98 - $40.30 per hour

Expected hours: 36.0 – 48.0 per week
