Roofing Operative

Overview

SG & Sons Roofing LLP are looking for an experienced and reliable Roofer to join our growing team.

We are open to candidates with experience in either flat roofing or pitched roofing, provided they have solid practical experience in built-up felt roofing systems.

The role will involve working on a variety of commercial, public-sector, healthcare, education and housing projects across Scotland, carrying out new installations, re-roofing, repairs and maintenance works.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship, works safely and efficiently, and can work as part of a team to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Carrying out roofing works on flat and/or pitched roofs
• Installation, repair and maintenance of built-up felt roofing systems
• Experience with reinforced bitumen membrane and torch-on felt systems
• Stripping and preparing existing roofs for new roofing systems
• Installation of roofing membranes, underlays, battens and associated components
• Carrying out roofing details including upstands, outlets, abutments, valleys, ridges, verges, flashings and penetrations
• Slating and tiling works where applicable
• Installation and repair of fascias, soffits, gutters and downpipes
• Identifying defects and reporting any additional works required
• Working from drawings, specifications and manufacturers' requirements
• Working at height using scaffolding, mobile towers, ladders and MEWPs where required
• Following RAMS, site-specific requirements and company procedures
• Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
• Working effectively as part of a roofing team

Requirements

• Proven roofing experience – essential
• Previous experience working with built-up felt roofing systems – essential
• Experience in either flat roofing or pitched roofing
• Good understanding of roofing installation methods and detailing
• Ability to work safely at height
• Good understanding of health and safety requirements
• Reliable, hardworking and able to work as part of a team
• Willingness to travel to sites throughout Scotland
• Full UK driving licence – essential
• Relevant roofing qualifications such as an SVQ/NVQ would be advantageous
• CSCS card would be advantageous
• PASMA, IPAF and Asbestos Awareness training would be beneficial

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £15.00-£20.00 per hour
