Roofing/Solar Technician

About the role

The Roofing Solar Technician builds a solar team capable of executing projects independently and completes manpower requirements during installation. The role involves roof installation, inspection, assessment, repair, maintenance, and solar mounting installation.

Key responsibilities

• Install roofing materials such as metal sheets, tiles, shingles, and flat roofing systems
• Measure and prepare roof surfaces before installation
• Install flashing, sealants, and waterproofing materials
• Ensure roofing systems are installed according to drawings and specifications
• Inspect roofs to identify defects, damage, leaks, or structural concerns
• Repair damaged roofing materials and fix roof leaks and waterproofing issues
• Install roof anchors, brackets, and mounting systems for solar panels
• Follow all health and safety procedures and use personal protective equipment correctly
• Inspect completed work to ensure workmanship standards are met
• Work closely with supervisors, installers, electricians, and other trades

About you

• High School Diploma or Secondary School Certificate
• Technical-Vocational Certificate in Roofing Technology, Construction Technology, Carpentry, Building Maintenance, Metal Fabrication, or Civil Construction
• 2 years' work experience
• Waterproofing and leak prevention skills
• Working at heights capability
• Solar mounting system installation experience
• Roof inspection and assessment skills
• Roofing material expertise
• Technical drawing interpretation ability
• Ability to lift and carry construction materials and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
